The Homestead Claim
The Homestead Refund is a rebate of a portion of the property taxes paid on a Kansas resident‘s homestead. Your refund percentage is based on your total household income. The refund is a percentage of your general property tax excluding specials. Tax on property valued at more than $350,000 does not qualify. The maximum refund is $700. Filers eligible for the Kansas Property Tax Relief claim receive 75% of their property tax with no maximum limit. Individuals are only eligible for one claim. Web File determines the claim that is most beneficial to the household.

Neighborhood Revitalization
The Neighborhood Revitalization plan is intended to promote the revitalization and development of the County of Sherman by stimulating new construction and the rehabilitation, conservation or redevelopment of the area in order to protect the public health, safety or welfare of the County by offering certain incentives, which includes tax rebates.
Attached below is a copy of the plan. Applications are obtained through the County Appraiser’s Office and all questions are handled by the Appraiser’s Office as well.
Kansas Housing Cooperative Program
Housing is the foundation of thriving communities, and Northwest Kansas needs more of it. Through the Kansas Housing Cooperative Program, homeowners can receive forgivable loans to build new homes in communities of 10,000 residents or fewer.
This program is designed to:
- Enhance housing availability across our 26-county region
- Stimulate economic growth and attract new families
- Support home buyers through forgivable loan assistance
For example, a family building a $300,000 home may qualify for a forgivable loan of up to $51,000, significantly reducing their financing costs.
We are asking local economic development leaders, bankers, realtors, and community partners like you to help spread the word to eligible families and builders. While we’re taking applicants from all counties in our region, we want to make sure word gets out in counties where no one has taken advantage of this opportunity.
